Accommodation Overview
Nestled within the stunning Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Devon, our glamping site offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, with birdsong and the gentle sound of a flowing brook creating the perfect setting to unwind.
As an off-grid site, we recommend bringing wellies and suitable outdoor clothing for the ever-changing British weather. Please also note that the site is located beside the river, so children must be supervised at all times near the water.
While there is no Wi-Fi on site, mobile phone reception is generally available depending on your network provider. Charging points are provided for your convenience. Bedding and kitchen utensils are included, but guests should bring their own beach towels. A complimentary starter basket of logs and kindling is supplied on arrival, with additional supplies available to purchase if needed.
During your stay, you’ll have access to the site’s compost toilet, solar-powered shower, and communal kitchen facilities. Guests can also book time slots to enjoy the sauna or cold plunge bath.
Hettie began her life as a 1960s hay trailer, originally partially converted for steam rallies in Dorset. We later brought her home and lovingly restored her, naming her after my late grandmother and giving her a complete new lease of life.
Now transformed into a truly unique and cosy retreat, Hettie combines rustic charm with thoughtful craftsmanship. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable double bed, vintage storage pieces, and a handcrafted kitchen featuring a beautiful 1920s copper stirrup hand pump and basin. The cabin is finished with stunning larch timber linings, handcrafted fixtures and fittings, and carefully sourced details gathered from across beautiful Devon.
Soft ambient lighting powered by solar energy creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere, while the wood-burning stove provides both cosy evenings and cooking facilities. Hettie also includes a vintage-style hob and a concealed fridge for added convenience. We provide all bedding, soft furnishings, and stylish kitchen utensils to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Hettie’s elegant French double doors open onto a spacious private balcony overlooking our peaceful paddock, the River Otter, and the surrounding wildlife. Guests can relax in the hammock, gather around the fire pit, or simply unwind in the outdoor seating area while soaking in the tranquillity of the countryside.
